Asia Cup 2022

Established in 1983, the Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup is a men’s One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket tournament founded by the Asian Cricket Council as a measure to promote goodwill between the Asian countries.

Originally scheduled to be held every two years, the first edition of Asia cup was played in Sharjah, UAE in 1984 between 3 countries – India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. In 2022, The 15th edition of Asia Cup 2022 will be played between 6 countries in United Arab Emirates.

India made its debut in the first edition back in 1984 and have been dominating the tournament ever since. Winning 7 titles out of 14, followed by Sri Lanka with 5 and Pakistan with 2 titles out of the 14 tournaments played till date.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Asia Cup was first postponed to 2021 with Sri Lanka set to host the event but was later pushed back to 2023 owing to the packed international schedule and the rising COVID cases in Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup 2022 Schedule

The 15th edition of the Asia Cup 2022 has been scheduled from 27th August 2022 to 11th September, 2022. After 2 years of a long wait finally, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the Asia Cup 2022 cricket schedule.

While the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) still hosts the tournament, with the current situation in Sri Lanka, the Asian Cricket Council shifted the Asia Cup 2022 to UAE. This will be the second time in the last five years that UAE will host the Asia Cup. As such, the Asia Cup teams are ready to battle for yet another glorious title coming next week.

The official Asia Cup 2022 schedule is out. The tournament begins on August 27 while the qualifier rounds kicked off on August 20th. The final of the Asia Cup 2022 will be played on September 11th.

The Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament shall be hosted officially by Sri Lanka, however, due to the ongoing turmoil in the country, matches will be played in the stadiums of UAE. The following are the venues for the tournament.
