When Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh took to social media to share the first look of his upcoming film ‘83’, the uncanny resemblance took the picture viral! He captioned the post: “On my special day, here’s presenting the Haryana hurricane, Kapil Dev.”
83 will chronicle India’s journey under Kapil’s captainship when the Men in Blue defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983. With the support of Reliance Entertainment, the film is due to release on 10th April 2020.
Directed by Kabir Kahn, the first poster of the film has garnered the eyeballs of all cricket-loving fans. What’s got the fans excited is the resemblance of Singh and Kapil. Ranveer Singh has been morphed with some impeccable hair and make-up to represent this bowling legend and Indian team captain. The detailing in terms of the bushy moustache, hairdo, the white Indian team jersey and the flipping of a red leather ball with those fierce eyes have ticked all the right boxes!
Fans and friends appreciated the actor’s new look and hope the film will be a blockbuster. Produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiawala and Madhu Mantena, the film also features Bollywood actress and Ranveer Singh’s wife Deepika Padukone who will be playing the role of Romi Bhatia wife of Kapil Dev. This will be the duo’s fourth collaboration after last year’s release Padmaavat.
Interestingly, Deepika is not working only in front of the camera for this film and has also been named one of the produces. 83 also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Sahil Khattar and Chirag Patil in significant roles.
Speaking about getting into the skin of the character Ranveer told IANS and quote: “Playing a living legend poses a unique set of challenges, and your approach to the preparation for that character has to be all the more intensive. And it has been. But at the same time, it has been very rewarding and fulfilling.”
