The Fantasy Football League of BalleBaazi is back this weekend; as is the Premier League after a week-long winter break, which took place for the first time in the history of the Premier League. With only a third of the season left to play, the teams had a chance to rejuvenate their minds and bodies by going out for training camps to discuss and practice on tactics, strategies and inducting new players brought in during the winter transfer window.
Two of England’s biggest names in club football, Chelsea and Manchester United, go head-to-head for the reverse fixture which will take place on Tuesday 1:30 am IST.
Two Sides Struggling to Find Their Form
The teams will be looking to improve on their recent form with both coming out of the winter break on the back of no wins in their last 3 games. Chelsea have had a tough time this season in terms of giving away their leads, with the most recent instance of this being 1-0 up against Leicester City, by the end of which both teams shared the points in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. Although they’re still in 4th place in the table, things could take a turn for the worse if Frank Lampard is not able to sort out their defensive deficiencies given the fact that they have a relatively younger and more inexperienced side this season. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his first full season in charge of Manchester United, the team sits in 8th place, with 4 wins and 4 draws in their last 10 matches. Going into the winter break off the back of another dull 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Red Devils will be looking to make a push for the Top 4 in the final quarter of the season that is left to play. A leaky defence and a lack of goals have made the fans turn on the manager and this game against The Blues is a crucial chance for them to get back to winning ways.
Manchester United haven’t lost to Chelsea in their last 3 trips to Stamford Bridge. Having scored 4 without reply at Old Trafford in the last match against Chelsea, the Red Devils will be looking to do the double against them this season. Chelsea will be looking to capitalize on the fact that Man Utd have not been to score in any of their last 3 games while conceding 4 times. Lampard’s side will be looking to exploit Man Utd’s dysfunctional midfield as they did in the reverse fixture earlier in the season although they weren’t able to find a breakthrough.
- Manchester United: Deadline day signing Odion Ighalo agreed to stay away from the Manchester United training ground amid fears of Coronavirus after arriving from China. But that will not be the case, as he will be in the matchday squad to face Chelsea. Nemanja Matic is available for selection again after serving his one-match ban which he earned before the winter break. He is expected to be straight back into the starting XI against his former team. Scott McTominay has resumed full training but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s comments would suggest he won’t make his comeback until Thursday’s Europa League match. The same is true of Axel Tuanzebe. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba remain long term absentees.
- Chelsea: Christian Pulisic is expected to be on the sidelines again following his injury and Lampard’s reluctance to include him in the starting XI. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has stepped up from his recovery to return from his long-term injury but he won’t be able to get fit in time for tonight’s match. Willian is likely to be included in the side after being dropped for the game against Wolves prior to the winter break. Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori are all in contention for one spot in defence if Lampard chooses to start with a back four. One of N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic must settle for a place on the bench.
Our Online Fantasy Football League Picks:
Anthony Martial will be looking to fill the goal scoring boots of Marcus Rashford. New signing Bruno Fernandes will be looking to make a vital impact going forward. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has looked solid throughout the season and can make a telling contribution going forward as well.
Tammy Abraham will look to add to his awe13 Premier League goals against an uncertain back 4 of Man Utd. Willian will be a threat throughout the game making runs and creating chances. Antonio Rüdiger has been instrumental in Chelsea’s defence this season as well as coming up with crucial goals from time to time.
It’s always an interesting affair when two of the Big 6 clash and we all can look forward to another action packed game of the Premier League.
