After an embarrassing loss against Bangladesh in their last match, team Indian Women Team defeats their arch rivals Pakistan to make their way in to the finals of Women’s ASIA CUP 2018. The girls have shown that the last match they lost was a mere upset and that they’re the boss!
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first at what looked a track which will play the same throughout the 40 overs. Pakistan did not get the start they had wished for, instead, the start was a disaster. The girls in green were outplayed by the 6 time Asia Cup champions team India. Pakistan started to lose wicket in regular intervals from the very beginning and that made evident that India was there for the kill. India did let its guard down until they restricted the opposition within a total as low as 72. Ekta Bisht being the top bowler spun
Pakistan all around, in her brilliant spell of 4 she conceded only 14 runs and took 3 important wickets.
The stage was set for a perfect win, but cricket is a game of uncertainties. India lost wicket of the legendary Mithali Raj for naught. The young rising star of Indian women cricket, Smriti Mandhana, made her way onto the crease. But soon India lost another wicket as Deepti Sharma, again, for duck. India was on 5 at the loss of 2 wickets. But the crease was occupied by two of the finest woman batters, Harmanpreet Kaur and Mandhana. The girls made sure that they do not lose anymore wicket and also kept the score board ticking. They slowly and gradually put Pakistan’s hope of comeback to an end. Smriti lost her wicket on 38 with 3 run to spare. It was just a formality by then. Harmanpreet stayed not out on 34 and ended the game in India’s favor.
Ekta Bisht was presented man of the match for her match defining spin bowling.
