England (498/4) Vs Netherlands in 2022

England has the highest score in ODI when they scored 498 runs and lost 4 wickets against Netherlands at Amstelveen on 17th June 2022. The team played for 50 overs and they scored at a rate of 9.96 and three batsmen including Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan scored centuries at a lightning fast pace. 

England (481/6) Vs Australia in 2018

Second in the list of highest scores in ODI cricket is England again with a score of 481/6 against Australia at Nottingham on 19th June 2018. They played for the entirety of their 50 overs and scored at a rate of 9.62 runs per over. In that match, Alex Hales was the hero who scored 147 runs and thrashed team Australia by 242 runs.  

England (444/3) Vs Pakistan in 2016

England occupied the 3rd spot as well in the list of highest scores in ODI when they met Pakistan at Nottingham on 30th August 2016. It was an Alex Hales show through and through as he scored a swashbuckling innings of 171 runs. The England team scored at a rate of 8.88 and Pakistan was bowled out for 275 runs. 

Sri Lanka (443/9) Vs Netherlands in 2006

Sri Lanka makes their way into the list, courtesy of Sanath Jayasurya master class where he scored 157 runs and Sri Lanka scored 443 runs at the VRA Ground in Amstelveen on 4th July 2006. Dilshan also scored a century and they scored at a rate of 8.86 and won the match by 195 runs. 

South Africa (439/2) Vs West Indies in 2015

Next on the list of highest scores in ODI cricket is South Africa who scored 439 for the loss of 2 wickets against West Indies at Johannesburg on 18th January 2015. The knock played by Hashim Amla was a huge contributing factor as they scored at a rate of 8.78 runs per over. South Africa won the match by 148 runs 

South Africa (438/9) Vs Australia in 2006

South Africa made their entry again on the list of highest scores in ODI when they chased down 434 runs scored by Australia and won the match with one ball to spare with an immense knock from Herschelle Gibbs. The match took place at Wanderers, Johannesburg on 12th March 2006 and they scored at a rate of 8.78 runs per over. 

South Africa (438/5) Vs India in 2015

The 5th to 7th spot on this list is occupied by South Africa and this time they scored 438 runs for the loss of 5 wickets against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 25th October 2015. Faf Du Plessis scored a century and they scored at a rate of 8.76 runs per over. India was bowled out for 224 runs. 

Australia(434/4) Vs South Africa in 2006

Australia was one of the first teams to score such a high score in ODI cricket. They scored 434 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, courtesy of Ricky Ponting at the Wanderers, Johannesburg on 12th March 2006. Unfortunately, that score was chased down by South Africa and that created a new record in itself. 

South Africa(418/5) Vs Zimbabwe in 2006

South Africa makes their 4th appearance in the list of highest scores in ODI cricket by scoring 418 runs while losing 5 wickets against Zimbabwe at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom on 20th December 2006. They scored at a rate of 8.36 runs per over. 

India (418/5) Vs West Indies in 2011

India scored 418 runs while losing 5 wickets courtesy of a Virender Sehwag knock at the Holkar Cricket ground in Indore on 8th December 2011 and scored at a rate of 8.36. West Indies were bowled out for 265 runs.
