The 2019 World Cup has finally begun and so has the determination of the Indian team, growing stronger by the minute! And just like always, we bring to you the ‘Iconic Player of The Week’; we all know who that is currently – Mahendra Singh Dhoni, that’s who!

Former India Captain and current wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni is known for playing multiple roles for the Indian team. From batting and wicket-keeping to playing the advisory role for his captain and bowlers, one usually finds Dhoni in the middle of things more often than now.

What Dhoni did just recently not only added another triumph to his line of work but also came as a source of sheer brilliance for his huge fan base!

It was an evergreen Dhoni on display against Bangladesh in the 2nd warm-up game as he scored an amazing hundred and helped India register a morale-boosting 95-run win at the Sophia Gardens before the 2019 World Cup opener.

On 28th May, Dhoni came into bat when India was in a spot with 102/4, smashed a 78-ball 113, which contained 7 sixes and helped his team post a gigantic 359/7. He brought up his 100 with a six in the 49th over of the innings as skipper Virat Kohli cheered on with his teammates.

Dhoni also shared a crucial 164-run partnership with K.L Rahul and made sure that the team did not suffer from yet another embarrassing batting collapse as they did against New Zealand.

We all believe that Dhoni’s century might just prove to be the lucky charm which Kohli needs to win the World Cup trophy!

Remember when Dhoni scored a century in the warm-up game against New Zealand, back in 2011? Scoring 108* (64b, 11f, 3s), he helped India post 360/5 on 16th February in Chennai. India won the match that day by 117 runs and eventually raised the Cup defeating Sri Lanka in the finals at the Wankhede in Mumbai. So undoubtedly, Kohli and all the excited Indian fans would be desperately hoping that Dhoni’s warm-up match proves to be the same this time and they win the prestigious trophy at the iconic Lord’s Stadium in London on the 14th of July!
