As the name suggests, the team originates from Gujarat, a state along the west coast of India. The Gujarat Fortune Giants' home stadium is EKA Arena by TransStadia or EKA Arena, where the team plays all their home matches.

Established in 2017, Gujarat Fortune Giants was among the four new teams that have been added to the Pro Kabaddi League. Before that, the tournament was played between the eight existing teams. Manpreet Singh is currently coaching the team Gujarat Fortune Giants.

Manpreet Singh was a seasoned Pro Kabaddi League player and a leading figure of the Patna Pirates team. As a captain of the Patna Pirates, Manpreet won the Pro Kabaddi title in the tournament's third edition.

Gujarat Fortune Giants has been the most successful among the four new franchises who have joined the Pro Kabaddi League in its 5th edition. In 2017 and 2018, the Gujarat Fortune Giants were at the top of the table in Zone A. However, they lost to Bengaluru Bulls and Patna Pirates in the final matches of both seasons.

In the 2021 edition of the Pro Kabaddi League, Gujarat Fortune Giants climbed to 4th position by winning 10 matches out of 22. They also earned 66 points in the latest edition of the tournament.
