Paths to Glory
Rashid Khan may just be one of the best cricketing youngsters of his era. At the age of 24, he has matured into an indispensable part of the Afghan cricket team. Still, he has also boasted of the elusive contracts of the cash-rich Indian T20 Premier League, a market that boasts a torturous indifference to sentimentality.
Early life
Growing up, Rashid Khan spent his childhood in a refugee camp in Peshawar, being born to a Pashtun family in the Afghan village of Nangarhar.
After following Shahid Afridi, he immediately began to adore him and went on to develop a passion for cricket. He built on his character's fast-paced action and worked hard to develop multiple variations to succeed in this monstrous stroke-dominated sport.
Rashid Khan Cricket Debut
Rashid Khan made his first-tier(class) debut for Afghanistan against the British Lions in Abu Dhabi on 7th December 2016, winning 4 for 48 and 8 for 74 and scoring 25 without dropping out and 52 runs. Before his 18th birthday, Rashid Khan was allowed the coveted opportunity to represent his country.
Rashid made his ODI debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo. The young Afghan legion was soon to dominate the sport, especially in the shortest version of the game.
His bowling figure of 2-1-3-5 in a match against Ireland in the T20I game attracted a lot of attention. As a result, Rashid Khan gained the attention for the Hyderabad franchise in India's T20 league.
Due to consistent stellar performance, Rashid experienced an exponential rise in career. As a result, he and Mohammed Nabi became two rising stars in Afghanistan.
Rashid Khan and his 7 wicket figures in the ODI match against West Indies made him the first Associate Nations cricketer to achieve this score. In 2018, the ICC named him the Associate Cricketer of the Year, as the council recognised there is no way to stop this Afghan's tidal wave.
Rashid Khan International Career
On 18th October 2015, Rashid Khan made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe. He made his debut in Twenty20 International cricket (T20I), also against Zimbabwe, on 26th October.
On 10th March 2017, Khan scalped his first five-wicket haul in a T20I match in the second T20I against Ireland. His five-wicket tally over three games was the best performance in Afghan cricket bowling in T20I and the 4th-best number in all of T20I.
Rashid Khan received the distinction of being the first player to get 5 wickets in two overs in a T20I match. Afghanistan won the match, and Rashid and Najeeb Tarakai shared the Man of the Match award.
In the ODI series against Ireland, alongside Paul Stirling, they became the first bowlers from a different team to get six wickets in the same ODI. On 9th June, Rashid made his second ODI match with 5 wickets and got 7 wickets for 18 runs against West Indies at Gros Islet.
It was the 4th-best ODI bowling figure and the first by an association cricketer to scalp 7 wickets. Afghanistan maintained a total of 212 runs, winning the game by 63 runs, and Khan was named Man of the Match.
2018
In May 2018, Rashid Khan was accepted into the Afghanistan team for a preliminary test match against India. He made his Test for Afghanistan debut against India on 14th June, 2018.

In April 2019, Khan was inducted into the Afghanistan team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. After the 2019 World Cricket Championships, Rashid was appointed captain of the Afghanistan cricket team in all three formats.

Afghanistan took 10 wickets in the Tests in which Khan became the first cricketer to score 50 with the bat and 10 wickets with the ball in friendlies on his debut as a captain. In December 2019, the Afghan Cricket Council appointed Asghar Afghan captain in all three formats.
