Sri Lanka vs South Africa

South Africa vs Sri Lanka test series is all set to bring in some old school test cricket to our homes all over the world on the international stage. A timid Sri Lankan test squad with a few established superstars, is no longer the Sri Lankan side we used to know in the era of Mahela Jayawardena, Sangakkara or even Arjun Ranatunga. On the other hand, there’s the South African squad struggling to find cricketing gigs after the initial tussle with their government and Cricket South Africa. Getting some cricketing action among these 2 nations calls for a brilliant applause to the spirit of cricket and making sl vs sa series possible especially after the cursed times of the pandemic.

South Africa vs Sri Lanka Head To Head

In South Africa vs Sri Lanka test matches, the team that has had the upper hand so far is the Proteas team who have had the edge over Sri Lanka in Test matches. They have won 15 games and lost 9 against the Lankans while on six occasions they managed to end the test match in a draw.

Looking at the present scenario of the series, it does look like a clean sweep for the home team after Sri Lanka lost by 45 runs and an innings in the 1st match of the sl vs sa test series 2020.

Players to look forward to in Sri Lanka vs South Africa Test Series

Faf Du Plessis

The ex-South African Captain had an amazing Indian T20 season and looked in great touch even though his team could not make it to the final 4 of the competition. Faf has had a great test cricket record and in home conditions is absolutely unstoppable and when you give him the fragile bowling attack of Sri Lanka, he’d probably pounce over a 2-0 win in the Sl vs SA test series. In the 1st test, he has already scored 199 in the 1st innings helping in his team’s victory at Centurion.

Kusal Perera

Cometh the time, cometh the man! With not so much experience in his side, the veteran will take absolute responsibility on his shoulders and would want to give South Africa a tough fight. His fighting 60 odd in the 2nd innings went in vain in the 1st test as the Proteas went 1-0 at Centurion. Perera has the ability to change the game single handedly so in his presence the Lankan side will look to come back stronger in the 2nd test sl vs sa test match in 2021 now at the Wanderers.

Dinesh Chandimal

The one strong character in the Sri Lankan team who’s resilience has impressed one and all throughout world cricket. Chandimal scored some fruitful runs in the 1st innings to give Sri Lanka a respectable total against the mighty Proteas but not so much in the 2nd. He would like to make amends at the second sl vs sa test match in Wanderers, Johannesburg.

Aiden Markram

A solid and complete test match batsman, Aiden Markram has time and again played crucial knocks in the longest format of the game and against Sri Lanka, it's not going to be any different. The South African star has been on song ever since his century stint in the infamous South Africa vs Australia series at home where the Sandpaper gate happened at the Centurion ground. Aiden Markram scored 68 at the top to help Elgar cruise to 95 and give the Proteas a solid start to their innings.

In the 2nd test, with the inclusion of Kagiso Rabada, the South Africans will not show any mercy to the Sri Lankans at Wanderers. So it will be interesting to see how the Lankan lions make a comeback in the srl vs sa series. Will it be a 2-0, 1-0 or 1-1? Let’s wait and watch the live action starting 3rd January, 2021 at the Wanderers, Johannesburg.
