    TDS Rules:

As per the amendment in Section 194B of the Income Tax Act proposed in the Budget Session of 2023, all online gaming intermediaries must deduct a tax of 30% on the users’ net winnings made by playing real money online games.

These guidelines will be in effect from the financial year 2023-24.

    New TDS Policy

    • TDS will be deducted at the time of withdrawal.

    • TDS will apply only to the net winnings, not the deposits.

    • Once the TDS has been debited, we will provide the TDS certificate after the end of the ongoing financial quarter.

    • These certificates will act as proof while filing the income tax return.

Net Winnings: Difference between the total withdrawal amount and the total deposit amount in the same financial year. (Financial Year starts on 1st April and ends on 31st March)

    How is the TDS calculated?

If your net winnings at the time of withdrawal are positive, then you are eligible for TDS as per section 194B of the Income Tax Act.

    Example 1

You have deposited ₹500 and used ₹300 out of that amount to play any game format on BalleBaazi. Suppose you convert those ₹300 to ₹800. In this case, if you place a withdrawal request of ₹800, this is how your net winnings will be calculated:

    Net Winnings=Withdrawal Amount-Standing Deposit Balance

    Net Winnings=₹800-₹500

    Net Winnings=₹300

Hence, 30% TDS will be deducted on ₹300 which is equal to ₹90

The amount that will be credited to your account will be ₹800 - ₹90 which is ₹710.

    Example 2

If your net winnings are zero or you face a loss, there won't be any deductions.

You have deposited ₹500, and after playing on BalleBaazi you lost ₹200. If you proceed to withdraw the remaining balance of ₹300 then there will not be any TDS on this amount.

    Example 3

If you withdraw an amount lesser than or equal to your deposit, there won't be any deductions until your deposit balance has been exhausted as a rebate.

You have deposited ₹500, and after playing on BalleBaazi you lost ₹200. If you proceed to withdraw the remaining balance of ₹300 then there will not be any TDS on this amount.

In simple words, if you withdraw an amount lesser than or equal to your deposit, there won't be any deductions.

For example, you deposit ₹1000, convert it into ₹5000 & at first, you withdraw ₹900. There won't be any deduction.

Later, you withdraw ₹1500. For this withdrawal, there will be a TDS on the amount of ₹1400 (₹1000 of Deposit - ₹900 previous withdrawal - ₹100 balance of deposit).

    Note:

    • If your net winnings are negative or equal to 0 in a given withdrawal cycle, then there will be no tax deduction.

    • Any promotional tickets, bonus amounts and cash credited to the BalleBaazi wallet by using deposit codes will not be counted towards your `standing deposit balance. For Example, Free League Ticket, and Real Cash Bonus will not be calculated in your deposits.

When will the withdrawal ledger reset?

On 31st March of every year:

    1. TDS of 30% will be deducted on all remaining net winnings in your wallet as the financial year comes to a close.

    2. The remaining balance in your wallet (including usable amount and withdrawable amount) will be counted as your standing deposit balance for the next financial year.

Your withdrawal ledger will reset at 00:00 hours at the start of every financial year.
