Most Centuries in IPL 2008 

Shaun Marsh’s century against Rajasthan Royals in the 2008 IPL season was indeed one of the most memorable innings in the history of the tournament. His knock of 115 runs off just 69 balls was an absolute masterclass in T20 batting, as he scored at a strike rate of 166.67 and smashed 11 fours and 7 sixes in the process.

The match was played on April 4, 2008, at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Rajasthan Royals had posted a formidable total of 216/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant century from Graeme Smith. Chasing such a huge target, Kings XI Punjab got off to a shaky start, losing two early wickets.

Most Centuries in IPL 2009

Manish Pandey’s innings was a display of his exceptional talent, and it helped him become the first Indian player to score a century in the IPL. Pandey’s knock was crucial in the context of the match, as RCB was struggling at 31/2 when he came to the crease. Chris Gayle scored two centuries in the 2011 Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). His first century came against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 22, 2011, in which he scored an unbeaten 102 runs off just 55 balls. His second century came against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on May 6, 2011, in which he scored 107 runs off just 49 balls. These two centuries played a crucial role in RCB’s journey to the playoffs that season. Gayle’s performance in the 2011 IPL season helped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) reach the playoffs.

Gayle’s century in IPL 2012 came in a match against the Delhi Daredevils on May 17, 2012, at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi. Batting first, the Jamaican cricketer opened the innings for RCB and smashed an unbeaten 128 runs off just 62 balls, which included 13 fours and 7 sixes. His blistering knock helped RCB post a massive total of 215/1 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Delhi could only manage 194/9, handing RCB a comfortable 21-run victory.

In IPL 2013, Gayle scored a century in just 30 balls for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Pune Warriors India. This remains the fastest century ever scored in the Indian Premier League and also the fastest century in any professional T20 cricket match. The Universe Boss’s century included 13 fours and 17 sixes and he scored a total of 175 runs off just 66 balls, which is also the highest individual score in T20 cricket. This incredible innings helped RCB post a total of 263 runs, which is the highest team total in IPL history.

Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricketer, played a remarkable innings in the 2014 IPL match against Chennai Super Kings. He scored 122 runs off just 58 balls, with a strike rate of 210.34. This knock included 12 fours and 8 sixes and helped Kings XI Punjab to post a total of 226/6 in the second qualifier of the playoffs stage at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Sehwag’s innings was crucial in helping his team to reach a formidable total. This was Sehwag’s second century in the history of IPL.

AB de Villiers scored a century for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Mumbai Indians. He scored 133 not out off just 59 balls, including 19 fours and 4 sixes, at a strike rate of 225.42. This innings is widely regarded as one of the greatest T20 innings, as de Villiers played a range of innovative shots and hit the ball to all parts of the ground. In the first match, Hashim Amla scored an unbeaten 104 runs off just 60 deliveries while playing for Kings XI Punjab against Mumbai Indians in Indore. His century helped KXIP set a challenging total of 198 runs. Amla scored his second century of the IPL 2017 season against the Gujarat Lions in Mohali. With this century, he became the 3rd player in the history of the IPL to score two or more centuries in a single season. Amla’s knock of 104 runs off 60 balls was instrumental in helping KXIP post a formidable total of 189 runs.

Shane Watson scored the most important century during the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2018. He scored an unbeaten 117 runs off just 57 balls in the final match of the tournament between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, held on May 27, 2018. His superb innings included 11 fours and 8 sixes, which helped Chennai Super Kings to win their 3rd IPL title. Watson was awarded the Man of the Match award for his incredible performance in the final. He also scored another century that season against the Rajasthan Royals.

Warner’s century came in the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 31st March 2019. In that match, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first and scored 231 runs for the loss of two wickets in their 20 overs. David Warner played a brilliant knock, scoring an unbeaten 100 off just 55 balls, which included 5 fours and 5 sixes. He finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 692 runs in 12 matches, including one century and eight half-centuries, at an average of 69.20 and a strike rate of 143.86

Shikhar Dhawan had a very successful season with the bat, scoring a total of 618 runs in 17 matches. Out of these 17 matches, Shikhar Dhawan scored 2 centuries. The first century came in a match against the Chennai Super Kings on October 17, 2020. In this match, he remained unbeaten and scored 101 runs off just 58 balls. The second century came in a match against the Kings XI Punjab on November 1, 2020. In this match, Shikhar Dhawan scored 106 runs off just 61 balls, which included 12 fours and 3 sixes. 

Most Centuries in IPL 2021

Ruturaj Gaikwad remained unbeaten with 101 runs, achieving his first century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the clash with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Despite being put in to bat first by RR, Gaikwad partnered with Faf du Plessis to construct a 47-run opening wicket. During his knock, Gaikwad faced 60 deliveries, hitting nine fours and five sixes with a strike rate of 168.33. He stayed on the pitch for the entirety of Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) innings, which lasted for 113 minutes, as the RR bowlers struggled throughout the night.

Jos Buttler matched Virat Kohli’s achievement of scoring the highest number of centuries in a single Indian Premier League season. In the 2022 edition, Buttler’s outstanding unbeaten knock of 106 runs off 60 balls helped the Rajasthan Royals reach the IPL Final for the first time in 14 years at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Buttler has now scored 5 centuries in the lucrative league, with Chris Gayle, the West Indian superstar, being the only player to have scored more centuries in the history of the tournament.
