England

England had their best moments in the first test match but can still tweak their shortcomings. The opening batsmen need to perk up and perform better for their team. The bowlers, on the other hand, will want to restrict Virat Kohli who was a major threat in the first game. England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the match and could be replaced by Chris Woakes. Also, Dawid Malan has been dropped from the playing XI and Ollie Pope is his replacement. Sam Curran, who impressed the audience with his batting and bowling spells, will be the star player for England.

India

India, who lost the first test match by a hairline, will look forward to win the next match at Lord’s. While the bowlers did a superb job, the batsmen faltered and lost the match by just 31 runs. The batting lineup has to jump through hoops and give their best shots unlike the first match. Skipper Virat Kohli’s responsible batting form is expected to continue; all other top and middle order batsmen need to buckle down. Cheteshwar Pujara could find his place in the playing XI. Rishabh Pant might be tried as the wicket-keeper batsman. India will again miss the service of their death-over specialist Jasprit Bumrah.
