The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a domestic, annual Twenty 20 franchise cricket tournament, which is organised by the IPL governing council under the guidance of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).

Established in 2008, it is the most-watched Twenty20 tournament globally. It attracted 22.9 crore television viewers in the 1st week of the 15th edition of the tournament. The Indian Premier League is also the second-best-paying sports league in the world which attracts famous cricketers across the globe and their fans. Therefore, it is natural for the tournament to have such immense popularity.

IPL involves ten teams and features a double round-robin format, meaning each team plays all the other teams twice, home and away.  To date, the tournament has witnessed 15 editions, each season being more gripping, larger-than-life and splendid compared to the last.

As such, it isn’t wrong for fans and critics to believe that the upcoming 16th edition of IPL will be grander than the last. That said, let’s look at the IPL winners list from 2022 to 2008.

IPL Winner List From 2008-2022
