It’s a battle of two teams that have been quite consistent when it comes to the recent previous editions of the World Cup. While the Kiwis have made it to the finals last year and the previous three semi-finals, the Lankans made it to 2007 & 2011 finals. Both of them have been close enough, yet a bit too far from the ultimate victory.

Sri Lanka have been the ones to knock out the Kiwis from the 2007 & 2011 World Cups at very crucial stages of the game. Their meet today will bring back past memories of close defeats and chokes at critical points. Kiwis on the other hand had a clinical win over one of the favorites India so they might not mind the nostalgia factor too much.

Colin deGrandhomme, Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson are all in good form backed up by the dangerous Martin Guptill. The Kiwis won’t stop against the Sri Lankan attack after having some good warm up games at the start of the world cup. This might just be another one-sided game today.

One of the best bowling partners on the international scene right now are this deadly duo, With 4-fers in both warm up matches, Trent Boult is in sublime form and will be looking to put down Karunaratne’s men from the outset. With so much fire in the bowling unit & NZ’s batsman in top form against a vulnerable Sri Lankan side, we’ve got to side with the Kiwis on this one unless SL pull off a major upset.
