In what could be called one of the most epic turnarounds in a Test match, England pulled off a blinder in the 3rd Ashes test out of nowhere especially after getting all out for 67 in the first innings. It was yet again, the New Zealand born superman: Ben Stokes who snatched victory from the hands of the Aussies.

Stokes(135*) scored his first 3 runs off 73 balls when he was batting with Joe Root who got dismissed off an amazing catch by David Warner. It was his and Jonny Bairstow’s partnership that bought hope to the English camp where he started freeing his arms. England began the day with 159-3 but suddenly after Bairstow’s dismissal, they started struggling at 286-9.

It was Jack Leach surviving ball-by-ball & Ben Stokes, on the other hand, showing off his T20 skills with reverse sweeps, slogs & shots over the wicketkeeper going for a maximum. In no time did Stokes reach his century but he did not celebrate showing the world that his team’s victory mattered more than anything to him at that stage.

When just 2 runs were required, the test match went through a whole drama after an lbw appeal got turned down by the umpire and Australia did not have any reviews left. Nathan Lyon missed a crucial run out giving England more chances than they could’ve ever imagined.

Jack Leach took a single giving the strike to the centurion Stokes with just 1 run required. Stokes smashed an outside off delivery for 4 crossing the target of 359 & creating history by chasing one of the biggest totals in Test cricket. The entire crowd erupted in awe of the situation and the sheer brilliance of the English batsman as the Australians buried their heads pinching each other to realize what just happened.

It was Stokesy all the way on twitter after the game being referred to as ‘Superman’ by Jos Buttler who missed out in the game because of an unfortunate run out. This Ben Stokes inning would go down as one of the greatest ever in the history of the Ashes giving England a much needed 1-1 equalizer in the series.
