For instance, Chris Gayle’s blistering knock of 175 runs from just 66 balls destroyed the Pune Warriors India bowling lineup.

RCB(263/5) Vs Pune Warriors India in 2013

The highest score in IPL was registered by the Royal Challengers Bangalore on 23 April 2013 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore against the Pune Warriors India. They scored 263 runs for the loss of 5 wickets with a run rate of 13.5 in the 20 overs that they played. Chris Gayle scored 175 runs off 66 balls. 

RCB(248/3) Vs Gujarat Lions in 2016

In the list of highest scores in IPL history, RCB appears again with a knock of 248 runs against Gujarat Lions at Chinnaswamy on 14 May 2016. They played the entire 20 overs and scored at a rate of 12.4 and Ab De Villiers played a scintillating innings of 129 runs in just 52 balls followed by another century by Virat Kohli. 

CSK(246/5) Vs Rajasthan Royals in 2010

CSK makes their appearance in the list of highest scores in IPL history with their innings of 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals on 3 April 2010 at Chepauk, their home ground. They played the entire 20 overs with a run rate of 12.30 where Murali Vijay came out of the blocks and scored a whirlwind innings of 127 runs to blow their opponents away. 

KKR(245/6) Vs Punjab Kings in 2018

The two-time IPL champions make their way into the list by scoring 245 runs with the loss of six wickets against the Punjab Kings at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on 12 May 2018. They played the entire 20 overs and scored at a run rate of 12.25 with Sunil Narine scoring a quickfire 75 runs off 26 balls. 

CSK(240/5) Vs Punjab Kings in 2008

CSK makes their appearance once again in the list of highest scores in IPL by scoring 240 runs after losing 5 wickets against Punjab Kings on 19 April 2008 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. They played 20 overs at a run rate of 12 and Michael Hussey played a match winning knock of 116 runs off just 54 balls to set a huge score for the Punjab Kings. 

RCB(235/1) Vs Mumbai Indians in 2015

RCB’s batting has been overwhelmingly strong over the years and they make their third entry in the list of highest score in IPL history with an enormous score of 235 runs for the loss of just one wicket. The match took place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 10 May 2015, where RCB scored at a run rate of 11.75 with Ab De Villiers scoring big once again with a knock of 133 runs in just 59 balls. 

MI(235/9) Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021

Mumbai Indians’ first foray into the list was with a gigantic knock of 235 runs for the fall of nine wickets against the Sunrisers team at Abu Dhabi on 8 October 2021. They played their entire quota of 20 overs and scored at a rate of 11.75 with Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav each scoring more than 80 runs.  

PBKS(232/2) Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011

PBKS makes their entry for the first time in this historic list with a score of 232 runs for the loss of 2 wickets against the RCB side at their home ground of Dharmasala on 17 May 2011. They played for 20 overs and lost just 2 wickets and scored at a rate of 11.6 with Shaun Marsh and Adam Gilchrist contributing a 200-run partnership in which the latter scored a century. 

KKR(232/2) Vs Mumbai Indians in 2019

KKR makes their second appearance by scoring a knock of 232 runs while losing only 2 wickets against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens on 28 April 2019. The KKR side was able to play their entire quota of 20 overs and scored at a rate of 11.6 runs per over with Andre Russell scoring 80 runs from 40 balls. 

DD(231/4) Vs Punjab Kings in 2011

Delhi Daredevils is the last team to make an entry into the list of highest scores in IPL with 231/4 against the Punjab franchise on 23 April 2011 at the Firoz Shah Kotla. They were able to play their quota of 20 overs at a scoring rate of 11.55 and ended up winning the match by 29 runs against the Punjab team with David Warner and Virender Sehwag scoring 77 runs each.
