Our one & only Baazigar Yuvraj Singh is back in action in the T10 Abu Dhabi League. Yuvraj had been a part of the Toronto Nationals in the GT20 Canada earlier this year and had led his team to the eliminator stage of the tournament. Yuvraj had slammed a few good innings in the tournament showing his vintage touch that clearly implied he’s still got it in him.

The T10 League is a 10-over per team format where players like Zaheer Khan, Shahid Afridi, Eoin Morgan, Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Bravo will be featuring as well. Recently Bravo, who’ll be playing alongside Yuvi for Maratha Arabians, expressed his gratitude on social media while commenting on a post on Yuvi’s social media saying:

“Finally, I’ll be playing on your side Yuvi Paa!”

Time and again Yuvraj has proved his mettle across formats throughout his cricketing career be it Test, ODIs or T20s. Here are our Top 5 picks where Yuvi turned up for the team when it was most needed throughout all types of cricket formats:

BB Top 5

1. 70 off 30 vs Australia in WT20 2007

Remember that 119 meters six off Brett Lee over square leg while Yuvi just glanced the ball off his legs. That was the beginning of an iconic inning which pulled India out of a troublesome situation in a must-win semi-final game against Australia in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Yuvi had hit 6 sixes off Stuart Broad in the same tournament just 2 games ago. This inning helped India put on a competitive total of 189 on the board that helped them to seal a place in the final.

2. 169 off 203 vs Pakistan in 2007

India were rumbling against a Pakistani attack that with 4 wickets down as Ganguly and Yuvi began to what can be called- one of the greatest partnerships in Test Match history. Yuvraj & Ganguly both made their career-best scores of 169 and 239 to amass a total of 626 runs in the first innings. This inning put an end to all the debates running about Yuvi not being suitable as a Test batsman.

3. 69 vs England in Natwest 2002

One of the best finals in an ODI tournament ever played was the 2002 India v/s England Natwest trophy final where England had put on 325 on the board. India’s Yuvraj Singh (69) & Mohd Kaif (85*) played the innings of their lives to secure a historic win at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium with (of course) Dada showing off his t-shirt juggling skills.

4. 113 vs West Indies in WC 2011

The match where Yuvraj came to terms with the fact that he was suffering from the life-threating disease of Cancer, was India vs West Indies in the 2011 World Cup match where he scored 113 and helped India seal the deal before he was bowled out by Kieron Pollard.

5. 57* vs Australia in WC 2011

That blistering knock of 57* off 65 balls and his air-punching celebration after the match is a sight every Indian Cricket Fan will cherish for the rest of their lives. It was a knock of a champion struggling with a life-threating disease and yet helping his country to reach the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
